Schulte Weppel
Oelde
From this we obtain the names of Schulte Jürgen
zur Weppel, "Wehrfester", (A "wehrfester" was a farmer who had
obtained the right to defend his farm and family with weapons) and his
wife Alheid.
We can ascribe the following sons to this couple Weppelmann:
1.) David, born ca. 1614. He was married in Oelde on Nov. 20, 1651 to
Catharina Schulte. They had the following children: a.) Bernardus, born
Dec. 15, 1652; b.) Alexandrina, born Mar. 14, 1655; c.) Theodorus, born
Jan. 7, 1657; d.) Wilhelmus, born April 23, 1666.
This couple Weppelmann lived in Wigbold Ölde; because David is
mentioned as Achtermann or Councilmember of Wigbolds Ölde in the years
1664, 1673 and 1674.
2.) Casparus, born ca. 1616. He died Aug. 3, 1665. He became "Meier
zum Gröning" when he married Ida Gröning (ca. 1650) who had inherited
the Meierhof Gröning.
3.) Bernard, born ca.1618. On June 6, 1667, „Berndt zur Weppel„s estate
was settled at 8 Reichsthaler
4.) Jorgen, born ca.1620 is later mentioned as living on „Dwerhegge".
It seems that he moved to Wigbold Ölde at a later date, because the
1662 Citizen’s Index states: „Jürgen Weppelmann seiner Frau Catharina
(Jürgen or Jorgen and his wife Catharina Coene from Zwolle in the
Netherlands obtained their citizenship) In Oelde they had the following
children: a.) Anna Catharina, born Dec. 21, 1661; b.) Gertrudis, born Oct.
21, 1663; c.) Arnoldus, born Feb. 13, 1667.
5.) Johann, born ca. 1622, died May 19, 1655. According to the
Index of Citizens of 1650, he also lived in Wigbold Ölde.-
After the death of Schulte Jürgen in 1623, the widow Alheid zur
Weppel married Stephan N.N., called "Schulte Weppel")We have not been able
to establish his family name. Two probate records show that this second
marriage actually took place. On July 15, 1636 Alheid’s estate was probated.
The same happened on Oct. 1, 1636 with the probate of Elske Wormsberg
vom Hofe in Bergeler, the next wife of the widower Stephan.
Thus we have determined that the widow Alheid zur Weppel was
married for a second time (ca. 1623) to Stephan N.N., who then calls himself
Schulte Weppel . The following children could be from this marriage:
1.) Dietherich Weppelmann, born ca.1625. Around 1650, he married
Anna Uphove. They had two children: a.) Johannes Theodorus,
born Feb. 16, 1653; b.) Gertrudis, born Jan. 9, 1656. According to the
register of the priest Johannes Böddeker, they lived on the
Wedemstraße since 1652. In 1664 Diderich Weppelmann was an
Alderman for Wigbolds Ölde.
2.) Petrus Weppelmann, born ca. 1627. On Oct. 21, 1652 he was
married to the heiress Catharina Uthoff from the farm Menninghausen.
The marriage took place in Oelde, and he called himself "Uthoff" from then
on.
3.) Andreas Weppelmann, born ca.1630. He died Aug. 5, 1661. In 1652,
he lived in Wigbold Ölde on the Langestraße.
